What Story Do You Want To Tell?
This is something you would want to discuss with your photographer. Spend time with your photographer to discuss what story you want to tell. Do you want to tell a story about your business, your blog, your personality or your achievements?
Where will you use the image?
Will you post it on your website? On Linkedin? On your CV or are you going to be featured in a magazine and do you need a nice headshot for this? For CVs and Linkedin, a plain background image will be good.
Tips for a Great Corporate Headshot
Plain background generally works well everywhere but if you are offering a lifestyle service or product, your backdrop can be in a styled interior, outdoors, or in a location that relates to your story. For example, if you are a yoga teacher, your setting can be in a yoga studio or outdoors in a peaceful garden or park.
Your office reception can also be a good setting especially if you will standing in front of the company sign or logo.
Add interest to your portrait story with props to make it more of a lifestyle shoot. Instead of just standing and looking straight into the camera, ask your photographer to shoot you in action. This will paint a better picture of what you do. This images will be good for your website and social media content.
